Winter is already here and it’s high time to take care of your skin. If you have already read my previous beauty posts, you might be aware that I am a huge fan of homemade and natural remedies for skin. Honey is a great ingredient for your skin and hair. Here are some winter honey benefits.

Winter Honey Benefits-the girl abroad

Winter’s always calls for extra clothing, extra steps in beauty regime and extra coffee for me. Recently I found a poll happening in instagram about whether summer clothes or winter clothes looks cute. Let me know what do you think, I vote for winter clothes. If you are not already following me on instagram, go ahead and follow me for daily updates (I am @thegirlabroad17 on instagram).

Honey as we all know has a lot of benefits. The most popular among them all, I would say is using honey for weight loss. Although, I am not entirely sure if this works, I agree that it helps you to feel light and never bloated. Having a glass of warm water with a table spoon of honey and lemon juice first thing in the morning helps with the metabolism. Without going far astray from the topic, let’s get on with the winter honey benefits for skin and hair.

Winter Honey Benefits-DIY

Oatmeal and honey face scrub

Oatmeal is suitable for all skin type. It has anti inflammatory properties and helps to soothe irritation and inflammation. However using oatmeal does not necessarily moisturize the skin. Hence, we use oatmeal with honey.

Ingredients for face scrub:

  • Half cup oatmeal
  • 4-5 table spoons of honey

How to use:

Mix the oatmeal and honey in a bowl until you get a thick paste. Spread it evenly on the face and neck. Let it sit for 15 minutes or until dry. Exfoliate the skin by rubbing the face scrub on to the skin in small circular motion for about 5 minutes and wash. Pat dry the skin.

Avocado and Honey Face Mask

Honey has a lot of anti oxidants and is amazing for anti ageing treatments. Avocado is also rich in anti oxidants and has vitamin C and E along with healthy fats. During winter’s, our skin tends to be a lot more drier. This face mask helps to keep the skin nourished and moisturized.

Ingredients for face mask:

  • Half over ripped avocado
  • 2 table spoon honey

How to use:

Mash the avocado into a paste. Mix the avocado with the honey and apply on to the face and neck . Leave it on for about 15-20 minutes or until it is dry. Wash it off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

Honey moisturizer

Once done with the face scrub and face mask, it is time for moisturizing . Honey as mentioned earlier quite few times, is a very good moisturizer. Apply thin layer of raw honey onto the face and neck. Leave it on for 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water for healthy and glowing skin.

Honey for hair

During winter’s our hair tends to become dry and often lose its luster. Honey can help to retain the shine of the hair. Dilute 1 table spoon of honey with 5 cups of water. Use this mixture after shampooing and conditioning the hair as a final wash and let the hair air dry for maximum shine.

I hope and wish all of you have a very great winter ahead. Be sure to pamper your skin and hair with these easy treatments with honey.
